ADAMS READY FOR FAMILIAR EXETER CHALLENGE

10 February 2022

Derek Adams believes his side’s familiarity with Exeter City will be of benefit, ahead of their fifth meeting of the season.

Saturday’s Sky Bet League Two clash will mark the second time the Grecians have made the trip to West Yorkshire this season, with the Bantams making the reverse trip on a further three occasions.

City manager Derek Adams insisted his men are well equipped for Exeter’s threat, thanks to their numerous meetings and activity in the January transfer window.

He said: “We have played them a lot this season, in the FA Cup and the league. From that point of view, we know them well.

“We have added to our squad since we played them, and so have they.

“They have the nucleus of the same squad, we have not. We have changed and are hopeful that gives us an advantage.

“They can change their system quite a bit, but they have the personnel to do that.”

Adams is under no illusion as to how much is required of his side if they are to reach their goal this season.

The City boss is still firm in his belief that the Bantams can reach the promotion-chasing spots, but acknowledged the necessity for victories instead of draws.

He added: “The players want to win all the time. It makes their lives a lot easier.

“We are going to have to win a lot of games from now until the end of the season, because we have drawn far too many.

“At the moment we are trying to cut the gap between us and the promotion places.

“Winning builds momentum and we started that off the other night.”
