Boss hails City's cup comeback

29 August 2012

City boss Phil Parkinson was full of praise for his side's battling spirit after the Bantams came from behind at Championship side Watford to secure their place in the Capital One Cup third round in dramatic fashion this Tuesday evening.

Trailing by a fantastic Ikechi Anya strike with only five minutes remaining, City mounted a stunning comeback to snatch the game at the death thanks to a leveller from Kyel Reid and then a winner four minutes into injury time from Garry Thompson.

Parkinson told Bantams Player: "I thought we played really well in the first half. In all honesty, I thought we should have come in (for the half time break) one nil up.

"We've hit the post with a great chance (through Alan Connell) and I thought we had a certain penalty on Zavon Hines straight after.

"We then got the set-back of conceding a terrific goal from Watford. We could have let out heads down at that point, but we didn't, we rolled our sleeves up and went again.

"In the end, we have won the game through two really good strikes."
