Head of Recruitment appointed

22 December 2012

The club have made an important addition to their backroom staff this week with the appointment of Russ Richardson as Head of Player Recruitment.

Brought in by Bantams boss Phil Parkinson, Richardson's main duties at Bradford will be to assist the City manager in identifying future transfer targets for the football club.

Richardson joins the Bantams with years of experience within the football industry under his belt after previously working in senior scouting roles for Mansfield Town, Rochdale, Preston North End, Barnsley and Bristol City.

He has worked closely with City assistant Steve Parkin during his periods at Mansfield, Rochdale and Barnsley.

With Parkinson looking at the forthcoming January transfer window and beyond, the City chief believes Richardson's arrival will be a key one for the football club.

Parkinson said: "Russ has a great knowledge of players at all levels throughout the country."

"He has a large number of contacts in the game.

"Our player recruitment in the short-term is going to be important, but also, planning ahead, it is going to be an important six-month period for the club.

"The introduction of Russ into the football club is an indication of how we want the club to keep progressing.

"I'm really pleased to have him on board - he'll be an excellent addition to the club."
