Bantams boss keen to keep improving his squad

As City start their pre-season training programme this week, Bantams boss Phil Parkinson says he is still searching for further players to add to his squad for the forthcoming campaign.

City's squad began their first full week of pre-season training this Monday as they stepped up their preparations for the eagerly-anticipated 2012/2013 season.

Parkinson has already recruited seven new faces during the summer as he continues to rebuild his squad ahead of the big kick off, but the City chief knows more is needed to cope with the trial and tribulations of a nine-month long League 2 schedule.

He said: "We still have work to do, certainly, and that will continue every day.

"We are still in the process of building up the squad, and that hasn't finished by any means yet.

"If you look at the nucleus of our squad at present, however, it is looking pretty decent.

"It's my job to make sure we keep building on the position we find ourselves in now, and we will do.

"We have a good group of 16 or so players in the building but we are still looking around. Knowing how tough our division can be, we still need to target some more strong players.

"We have a good nucleus in for the start of pre-season so it will probably be a case of adding to certain areas throughout the next few weeks (leading up to the start of the season).

"Ideally we would like to get one or two in sooner rather than later but I wouldn't say anything is imminent at the moment.

"We are working hard to bring more in - it would be great if we could get one or two extra in the club in the next seven to ten days.

"But we are not going to sign anyone just for the sake of signing someone, however."
