Glad to be home

5 November 2012

Bantams chief Phil Parkinson says that his squad can't wait to make their playing return at the Coral Windows Stadium this Tuesday when they take on Chesterfield.

After four successive away matches, City will play in front of their own supporters for the first time tomorrow night since defeating Cheltenham Town on 20th October - all of seventeen days ago.

With City's large home attendances certainly playing a part, Parkinson's men have only lost one home game all season going into their meeting with the Spireites.

And it is that same brilliant backing from City's faithful that Parkinson hopes the Bantams can call upon once again when Chesterfield come to town.

Parkinson said: "It'll be good to be back in front of our home supporters - I'm sure they'll make a good atmosphere around the ground as normal.

"I'm sure the lads will also get a great reception when they come out onto the pitch as well after their recent efforts on our travels.

"I've said it plenty of times before but I do genuinely mean it, the supporters will play a big part again tomorrow.

"We must continually look to make it hard for visiting teams to come here and play well on our ground, and the supporters certainly have a role in making that happen.

"I think as you may have seen at Wigan and in our last home match against Cheltenham, the support we got on those occasions really helped us throughout the match."

While Tuesday's visit of Chesterfield to Valley Parade marks a return to home action for City, the game also sees the resumption of the Bantams' league schedule after two successive cup ties.

Parkinson added: "The league is definitely our priority."

"I said that as early as the Notts County match (City's Capital One Cup First Round tie) all the way back at the very start of the season.

"Having success in the cups is great and it has benefitted us in many ways, but our focus has to be on these league games coming up.

"It's been a busy time on and off the pitch since the Burton Albion match (City's previous league fixture).

"The Burton match hit us hard with two bad injuries (Andrew Davies and Luke Oliver) and a suspension (Ricky Ravenhill), but we've bounced back from that with two good performances in the cup.

"We now have to carry that on into tomorrow night and the other league games coming up."
