Bantams boss Phil Parkinson was pleased to see some simple hard work on the training ground pay off in style for City's point-earner Zavon Hines against York City this Saturday.
After falling behind to a well-taken Ashley Chambers goal just before the interval, City's equaliser in the second half came from the boot of substitute Hines barely minutes after entering the field alongside fellow winger Garry Thompson.
The goal - Hines' first in City colours since his arrival in August - was certainly some way to open his scoring account for the Bantams as well. Starting around 45 yards from York's goal, Hines drove into the visitors' area, beat two defenders, before coolly slotting past Michael Ingham.
Parkinson felt Hines' goal was not just a reward for a bright display after coming on though, but for his efforts and attitude on the training ground in recent days.
"I'm really pleased for Zavon," added Parkinson.
"It wasn't just his goal though - he was bright when he came on and gave us a real lift. Zavon and Thommo (Garry Thompson) did well when they were brought on.
"He was obviously brought off at half-time last weekend (vs Dagenham & Redbridge) but a number of players could have been that day.
"This week though he has been tremendous. And I'm not just talking about today, I'm talking about in training as well.
"He's worked so hard and he has earned that goal today.
"Every day after training he has asked a member of staff to stay behind with him to help him work on his finishing and his sprinting with the ball.
"He's got his rewards for that work today and I'm really pleased that he has responded in the right manner.
"It wasn't just any goal as well, it was a terrific goal."
After watching his side come from behind to pick up a home point against York, Parkinson also felt City will benefit greatly from their forthcoming 'free' week - their first in five weeks.
The Bantams' drawn Yorkshire derby with the Minstermen this Saturday was incredibly their ninth fixture in 29 days - a run which has also included four straight Tuesday evening games.
With no evening fixture scheduled for this week coming, however, Parkinson hopes City can use the time to recharge his troops.
Parkinson concluded: "I thought we were lacklustre in the first half."
"You can talk about shapes and styles, but I don't think we ran with enough intensity on or off the ball.
"You could say that we are a team who has been playing a lot of games recently and we perhaps looked a little bit leggy as a result, but I felt the introduction of the subs helped to change that.
"The lads in general dug in for us in the second half though.
"It was a tough game for us and we now really need to use this week to recharge our batteries.
"We had some players out there today who have played a lot of games and some who are also nursing knocks as well. The likes of Olly (Luke Oliver) and Andrew Davies in particular.
"With Rory McArdle going away on international duty, we had to say to Luke "we need you'.
"Every credit to him, he got off the treatment table to play for us.
"He's a fantastic character and we needed him out there, but now we need to get those bumps and bruises right over this next week.
"Irrespective of who we play or what system we use, we look a real threat when we are able to play with real intensity. We look at our best when we're on the front foot."
As Parkinson eluded to, City will use their first free midweek in over a month to rest a few knocks that have built up within the Bantams camp.
With a further three Tuesday night games on the trot coming up on the horizon though, Parkinson hasn't ruled out the possibility of bringing in reinforcements to strengthen his squad.
The Bantams boss says that his mind is far from made up, however, especially given the impact Hines and Thompson made from the bench against York.
Parkinson said: "People are talking about us bringing players in, and there's definitely a possibility of us adding to the squad with these next batch of Tuesday games coming up, but I also have belief with the players we already have in the squad."
"I believe we may have the players to cope with our injury problems already here.
"We'll come in on Monday and have a look at the whole picture, but when you see Zavon and Garry play the way they did today, you feel we may have the answers within our squad already."
