Reid injury blow

3 October 2012

City winger Kyel Reid is already a major doubt for this weekend's trip to Dagenham & Redbridge after being forced off with a groin injury during the first half of City's goalless draw at Rochdale this Tuesday night.

Reid suffered the problem while stretching for the ball with a couple of Rochdale defenders midway through the opening period at Spotland Stadium and had to be replaced on the night by fellow wide-man Zavon Hines.

City assistant Steve Parkin said: "I would believe that he would certainly be a doubt for the weekend at this stage.

"It's important that we get him assessed early enough. Matt (Barrass, Head Physio) will have a look at him and we will have a better idea on the situation towards the back end of this week.

"He was certainly very sore when he came off. It's a definite shame because he's been fit and on his game recently. I think he would have loved the opportunity to try and help us break through in the second half.

"He's the sort of player that when the opposition are perhaps tiring or weakened because of a dismissal, he can make things happen with his pace. It was very disappointing to lose him in general, however, in the first half, not just because they were down to ten men."

Should Reid miss City's trip to the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham Stadium, however, Parkin feels the squad has the depth to cover.

Parkin added: "You need a good squad to help get you through a season and we have good replacements all around the pitch at the moment.

"During the course of a 46-game season, you need those replacements. That might be the case at the weekend."
