Futsal Scholarship

19 September 2012

.The Bantams' Community Foundation is now underway with their Futsal and Education Scholarship

The project allows students to combine classroom learning with Futsal tutoring. Futsal is a variation of football played on a smaller pitch and with a heavier ball to promote short passing and close control.

Former City striker Ian Ormondroyd, who now manages the club's Community Foundation, explained: "It (The Scholarship) is going well so far, with the scholars taking part in a Futsal Festival last week in the purpose-built Futsal Arena in Leeds, which they all thoroughly enjoyed.

"The education side is also going well with our teacher Mr Hird, from our funding Partners Tong School, doing the Education side here at the Education Centre at Valley Parade.

"This is a great opportunity for players with good footballing ability and it is certainly something I would have been interested in when leaving school.

"Applicants will need ideally, to have Grades A-C in 4 subjects including English and Maths.

"If you are leaving school next summer or are under 18 before 1st September 2013 please contact us to register your interest as it is a rolling programme and we will be taking a new group of scholars next September."
