Youth update

5 September 2012

On Friday 14th September, Bradford City Youth Department will be launching its new elite development centre programme.

The program will run on Friday evenings between 5:00pm and 7:00pm at 5 Alive Soccer Centre in Bradford.

As part of the new EPPP youth re-structure, the club's development centre programme, which caters for boys from 7 years-old to 11 years-old, falls into what has been classified as the foundation phase.

Beneath the elite centre, the club will be running feeder development centres located around Bradford of which boys will be coached by Bradford City coaches and then assessed for either selection into the elite centre, or will stay at their development centre to be helped by our coaches.

This Friday (7 September 2012), the club will be holding a selection evening at 5 Alive Soccer Centre for players 7-11.  Anybody who would like to attend is welcome to do so.

From this selection evening, the club will either invite players into their elite centre or offer an alternative pathway into one of our other development centres.

If you are going to attend this Friday, parents/guardians are kindly asked to please email Ken Ambler - the club's youth recruitment co-ordinator -  at

Alternatively, parents/guardians can turn up on the evening with their child(ren), where Ken Ambler and Sandra Oram - youth team administrator - will be registering players as they arrive.

The coaching program for the foundation phase will be headed by former Bradford City player Louis Horne, who progressed through the club's youth programme from the age of 8 to 20 years old.

All the coaching will be done by the club's academy coaches. Please watch for further details on the elite program that will be posted next week.

The 5 Alive Soccer Centre is situated in Fairweather Green, off Thornton Road, Bradford - postcode BD8 OHR.
