Davies to miss first leg

27 April 2013

Andrew Davies will miss the first leg of City's forthcoming Play-Off Semi-Final with Burton Albion following his dismissal at Cheltenham Town this Saturday.

Davies was sent off for two bookings at Cheltenham's Abbey Business Stadium during City's goalless draw with the Robins, with the defender collecting a one-match ban in the process.

Davies' first booking came after a debatable decision to award a foul against the defender for a tackle on Cheltenham attacker Byron Harrison towards the end of the first half.

Initially, referee Mr Andy D'Urso seemed to set to not even blow for a foul after being well-placed to see the incident, but the official eventually ended up cautioning Davies following advice from his linesman.

The defender's second booking came on the hour mark when Davies nudged into the back of Jermaine McGlashan as the pacey winger surged deep into City territory.

Speaking about the dismissal, City assistant Steve Parkin said: "I thought the first one (booking) was harsh because I don't think the referee was originally going to book him or even give a foul.

"He's only done so after speaking with the linesman, which we were a bit disappointed about.

"It was a very committed tackle but Andrew got the ball fair and square, so we weren't happy about the first booking.

"The second one, however, we have no arguement about.

"We said at half time to Andrew to not do anything silly because he was on this booking, but unfortunately he did and he paid the price."
