Duo doubtful for Blades clash

21 August 2013

Key attacking duo James Hanson and Mark Yeates are both currently rated as doubtful for Saturday's eagerly-anticipated Yorkshire derby with Sheffield United at the Coral Windows Stadium.

Medical checks on Hanson have confirmed that the forward has a small fracture in his left hand, while Yeates is being bothered by a knee problem that recently required an injection.

Yeates was ordered to rest two days following the injection into his knee, but City staff are hopeful that the Irish winger will be able to train before the end of the week.

With that in mind, Bantams boss Phil Parkinson is quietly confident that Yeates should be fit enough by the weekend to take on his former club. Hanson's position is less certain, however.

Hanson, who wore a bandage during last Saturday's match at Port Vale to try and protect the injury, suffered the damage to his hand in training the day before the Vale Park fixture.

Parkinson is expected to wait as long as possible in the build up to Saturday's match before deciding whether or not to select Hanson in his starting eleven to face Sheffield United.
