Golden Boot for McBurnie

5 August 2013

It has been confirmed that City apprentice Oliver McBurnie has received the Golden Boot for his part in helping Manchester United to their recent Milk Cup success.

The second year scholar striker, who spent last week on work experience with United during their time at the tournament, netted an impressive five goals from five games, including two in the semi-final and the winner in the final.

McBurnie's cup-clinching goal moved him to joint-top of the scoring charts for the competition, meaning he was able to earn another accolade from his memorable week.

The Milk Cup is an international junior tournament held each year in Northern Ireland.

After seeing McBurnie grab the deciding goal in the final, United's Under 18s boss Paul McGuinness said: "In terms of Oliver McBurnie, I think what we will do is pay tribute to Bradford who loaned him to us. He has enjoyed his week and he will go back there a better player, so it is great for everybody."

Following his success with the Red Devils in Ireland, McBurnie has now returned to City's Apperley Bridge training ground to continue his apprenticeship with the Bantams.
