A selection of City officials, including Bantams boss Phil Parkinson and joint-chairman Mark Lawn, were in the audience for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards evening this Sunday.

After playing their part in a memorable year for the underdog in domestic cup competitions in 2013, City were invited by the BBC to attend the star-studded event, which this year was held at the First Direct Arena in Leeds.

Along with Parkinson and Lawn, Bantams assistant Steve Parkin, plus players Gary Jones, Nahki Wells, Stephen Darby and Rory McArdle, also represented the club on the night.

City were briefly mentioned during the football section of the show after making the Capital One Cup Final back in February, although there were no nominations for City in the Team of the Year category or Parkinson in the Coach of the Year section despite hopes beforehand.

The award of Team of the Year went to the British and Irish Lions for their success in Australia this summer, while Lions chief Warren Gatland won the coach award.

The main BBC Sports Personality of the Year award went to Tennis player Andy Murray for his hugely-popular grand slam success at Wimbledon back in July.

Legendary former Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson received the BBC Sports Personality Diamond Award in recognition of his amazing achievements during 26 years in charge at Old Trafford.

Hillsborough justice campaigner Anne Williams, who sadly passed away in April, was honoured with the Helen Rollason Award, which was accepted by her family.
