McHugh makes Under 21s debut

7 February 2013

City defender Carl McHugh made his Republic of Ireland Under 21s debut this Wednesday afternoon as the youngster played his part in the Irish's hugely-impressive 3-0 victory over the Netherlands in an international friendly.

McHugh, who has previously been capped at Under 17 and Under 19 level for the Irish, came on just after the restart for his first ever cap with the Under 21s for his country.

Millwall's Aidan O'Brien scored two of Ireland's goals in the match, Wolverhampton Wanderers' Anthony Forde netting the other, as Noel King's side picked up a morale-boosting victory over the Dutch at Tallaght Stadium in Dublin.
