Meredith doubtful for Barnet trip

3 January 2013

City left back James Meredith is a doubt to feature at Barnet this Saturday because of the same bug that brought an early end to his involvement at Morecambe on New Year's Day.

Meredith was not in training today with the rest of the squad and will be assessed by City's medical staff before Phil Parkinson makes a decision on whether to include him or not in his travelling party.

The 24 year-old was forced off at half-time during City's encounter with Morecambe after feeling unwell before the match.

City assistant Steve Parkin elaborated by saying: "We feel James has not quite been himself for a couple of games now - looking a bit off the pace - so we've decided to keep him away from the lads and the building today."

"The (club's) medical staff will check up on him this afternoon and tomorrow morning and we'll then decide whether he travels or not."

Along with Meredith, Ross Hannah is also currently feeling under the weather, while Garry Thompson is definitely out of the trip south due to minor knee ligament damage.

There is good news regarding Carl McHugh, however, with the defender in contention to make his return after missing the last three matches with a calf problem.

Parkin added: "Carl is fine now."

"He's had three or four really good training sessions now with our physiotherapist recently. He trained with me this (Thursday) morning and he came through fine. He had no problems whatsoever - he looked fit and strong.

"He'll certainly be in the squad to travel to Barnet."
