Ashton Gate trip first up

19 June 2013

The Bantams will begin their first season back in League 1 with a trip to Ashton Gate to face former Championship side Bristol City.

City's Football League 1 season-opener against Sean O'Driscoll's Robins, who were relegated from the second tier last season, will take place on Saturday 3 August 2013.

The first home league fixture for Phil Parkinson's men will happen a week later - 10 August 2013 - when former Bantam Gregg Abbott is scheduled to bring his Carlisle United side to the Coral Windows Stadium.

Trips to Port Vale (17 August) and Stevenage (31 August), plus a mouth-watering home clash against Yorkshire neighbours Sheffield United (24 August), will complete City's first month of league fixtures.

Parkinson's squad will make their longest scheduled away trip of the season in October when they travel to Crawley Town on Saturday 19 October.

Wolverhampton Wanderers - one of the early favourites for the League 1 title - are set to visit Valley Parade a week later on Saturday 26 October, while Coventry City will arrive in BD8 on Saturday 16 November.

City's shortest league trip of the season to Oldham Athletic is down for Saturday 30 November.

The Bantams will begin their Christmas period with a match at Peterborough United's London Road (21 December) before entertaining Steve Evans' Rotherham United on Boxing Day (Thursday 26 December).

City will end the calendar year with a home game against Swindon Town (Sunday 29 December) and begin 2014 with a match away to Notts County on New Year's Day (Wednesday 1 January 2014).

After their visit to Notts County, trips to Carlisle (Saturday 4 January), Sheffield United (Saturday 18 January), Wolves (Saturday 1 February) and Coventry (Saturday 15 February) are marked down as City's next away fixtures over the months of January and February.

The Bantams' match at Rotherham's New York Stadium is set for Saturday 12 April.

A week later, City will play Peterborough United at home (Saturday 19 April) and Swindon Town away (Monday 21 April) over the Easter weekend.

Following those two holiday fixtures, City will complete their league schedule with a home game against Crawley Town (Saturday 26 April) and a season-ending visit to Tranmere Rovers (Saturday 3 May).

At the moment, City have five midweek fixtures included in their full league schedule, with the first of them coming on Tuesday 22 October when they travel to Preston North End.

The Bantams' only other midweek away fixture at present is at Colchester United (Tuesday 11 March). City's three midweek home fixtures will be against Notts County (Tuesday 26 November), Preston (Tuesday 28 January) and Walsall (Tuesday 25 March).

As with all fixture schedules, however, the dates of any of City's 46 league games are subject to change. Any changes to City's fixture schedule will, of course, be passed onto supporters via the club's official website.
