Comfortable win for reserves at Grimsby

6 March 2013

The Bantams' reserves recorded a comfortable victory over hosts Grimsby Town this Wednesday afternoon at Blundell Park.

Despite losing 'keeper Jack Bentley to head injury within the first minute of the game, City's youthful-looking second string managed to secure a 4-0 away win.

Youth team striker Connor Bower opened the scoring for Bantams before a Grimsby own-goal and two further strikes from fellow apprentice forward Louie Swain ensured the game finished with City on the right end of a commanding scoreline.

Along with a number of City's scholars, the Bantams' reserve line up against the Mariners featured a number of RIASA trialists in it as well, including midfielder Dougie Stephenson who joined Scott Brown in the centre of the park for the game.

RIASA is the academic and sporting academy with links to City following their involvement Nahki Wells' progression into the professional ranks.

Following their victory at Grimsby, City's reserves now have two matches in a week to look forward to.

Chesterfield will arrive at Valley Parade this coming Monday (11 March 2013) before the reserves then travel to Hartlepool United two days later on the Wednesday.
