Ricky raring to go

26 March 2013

City midfielder Ricky Ravenhill believes he should be fighting fit for the Good Friday clash at home to Southend United after picking up a knock in the win over Wycombe Wanderers last time out.

Ravenhill was forced to limp off in the second period of the Wycombe match a week ago today (Tuesday) with a badly swollen shin following a 50-50 tackle with visiting midfielder Josh Scowen.

With Ravenhill admitting that he possibly wouldn't have made last Saturday's encounter with Bristol Rovers had it not been snowed off, the weekend postponement crucially gave the midfielder a few more days to allow his injury to settle down.

Now back in training, Ravenhill is hopeful he will be back in contention for Friday's visit of Southend to the Coral Windows Stadium.

Ravenhill said: "While, as a group, we were all really keen for last Saturday's match to go ahead (vs Bristol Rovers) to allow us to try and build on the Wycombe win, personally, the postponement probably did help me a little bit.

"Maybe Saturday might have come around a bit too soon for me with the leg, so it was nice to have that little bit of an extra break.

"The leg is still a bit sore, but we have still a few days to go until Friday's match and I have trained Monday and Tuesday no problems with it.

"I have managed to get through everything fine and I'm sure any discomfort will get less and less as the days go by.

"Fingers crossed, there is no reason why I shouldn't be fine (for Southend)."
