Bantams boss Phil Parkinson has admitted that some selection issues will need to be made ahead of City's Sky Bet League 1 fixture with Notts County at the Coral Windows Stadium this Tuesday.

A sickness bug around the camp forced three players - Nahki Wells, Alan Connell and Kyel Reid - to miss training this Monday, with Parkinson revealing he wasn't sure whether any of them would be fit enough for the County encounter.

While Parkinson might have some players unavailable to him for Tuesday night though, the Bantams boss has acknowledged that there are also a few players in particular within his squad pushing for recalls for the Valley Parade contest.

Whoever is selected for the match, however, Parkinson is sure City will go into the game in buoyant mood after Saturday's win at Milton Keynes Dons.

Parkinson said: "We were obviously delighted with the win on Saturday and it will send us into this game in good spirits.

"MK Dons are a good side, but we were committed and disciplined and we always looked like we could score.

"Tuesday night will see us come up against a side who will be fighting for every ball.

"They will be fighting hard for everything, fighting for every ball and every decision, and we have to match their effort and work-rate.

"It is important that our energy levels are right and we focus properly on our own play and how we are going to approach the game.

"We have a bit of sickness in the camp - a few of the lads have been sent home - so I've told all the players to be prepared.

"No golfing, no shopping, they have to be rested up and ready to play. We have to be ready to put in a super-charged performance on Tuesday.

"Luckily, I do genuinely believe we have players pushing at the door now. They want to get into the team.

"Look at Jason Kennedy, he came in on Saturday and certainly played his part in getting us the win. There are other players as well looking to be in Jason's position.

"Matt Taylor has been terrific in training while Mark Yeates has come off the bench twice now in recent games and made an impact. After the Rotherham game, we spoke about the whole squad, not just the starting eleven, making an impact. I feel we are getting that now."

As Parkinson waits to see who among his squad will be fit for selection, the City chief knows already that he will once again be without injured defender Carl McHugh.

McHugh, who has yet to start a league game for City this season, has missed the club's last two games with the minor problem.

Despite the defender's limited involvement in the campaign so far, McHugh has been backed by Parkinson to still play a role this season once he returns to full fitness.

Parkinson added: "Carl has had a slight injury - nothing too serious.

"To be fair to Carl as well, I think he has been very unlucky not to have featured this season.

"He has to keep going though and get this little injury sorted. He has had a few minor set-backs with injuries since pre-season but we have 100% faith in Carl when he is required."

Saturday's exciting 3-2 win at stadiumMK came hot on the heels of City's recent six-goal thriller against Coventry City in front of the Sky Sports cameras.

Parkinson says he isn't completely sure what sort of game will be served up come Tuesday evening, but he knows that City will most definitely have to be bang on it if they want to make it back-to-back league victories.

The Bantams boss added: "We know that Notts County are certainly going to come to Valley Parade and look to make it as difficult as possible for us.

"We might have to be patient on the night and bide our time. If we can grind out a 1-0 victory, I'll be just as happy as I was on Saturday.

"Whatever it takes to get the result, we'll look to do.

"We know Notts County have quality in their team. You look at their squad at the start of the season and some people were tipping them to challenge for the Play-Offs.

"Obviously, it hasn't quite worked for them as of yet and they have now changed their manager. All of those players for Notts County will now be trying to show the new boss that they should be in the team.

"But, for us, it is all about how we approach the game.

"We're looking forward to the game. It will be our first midweek game at home this season and there is usually a special atmosphere around the ground on a night game."
