Davies went under the knife this Thursday to rectify a knee problem that flared up again following City's win at Walsall last weekend.
The surgery has ruled Davies out for the next three to four months, meaning the 28 year-old won't be back in Parkinson's plans until early 2014.
Although clearly disappointed to lose a key member of his squad for a significant period of the season, Parkinson knows Davies will be back to play his part in the campaign as soon as possible.
Parkinson said: "We certainly feel for Andrew. He has had a great start to the season and this is such a tough blow for us. He has got himself in such great physical shape but the surgery was required to get the problem sorted properly.
"He has to deal with this blow, and we know he will do. He came back strong last season from a similar period out and we know he will do the same again this time around.
"He will come back stronger than before and the three or four months he is out for will be over relatively quickly before he knows it.
"All we can do now is try to ensure that when he comes back, we are in a strong league position."
As mentioned before in earlier articles on the official website, Davies' spell on the sidelines has put even more pressure on City's defensive ranks ahead of Sunday's match with Tranmere Rovers given the fact that Rory McArdle and Carl McHugh are both currently away on international duty.
Parkinson continued: "With regards to Rory getting called up, it is obviously great for him, but frustrating for us. I just really hope he plays.
"This will be the third time he has been called up since I've been here at the club and he hasn't played for Northern Ireland yet in that time. It is ok if you are a Premiership or Championship player on international duty because your side won't have a game this weekend - it doesn't matter if you play or not to a certain degree.
"For Rory to miss important games for us, however, is getting a bit of a frustration.
"With Carl, he was just getting back to fitness following a few niggles and he got put on stand-by for the (Republic of Ireland) Under 21s.
"On Monday we then got the call to say he had been called up.
"For Carl, a bit like with Rory, I just hope he gets some football out there with them to justify his inclusion because this Sunday (vs Tranmere Rovers) would have been a game he would have certainly started in."
