Reid nominated

2 October 2013

Bantams winger Kyel Reid has been nominated for the Sky Bet League 1 Player of the Month for September.

Reid is up against Peterborough United's Britt Assombalonga, Preston North End defender Scott Laird and David Mooney of Leyton Orient for the monthly award, with the winner being announced this Friday (4 October 2013).

Despite guiding City to three wins and a draw from their four games in September though, Bantams boss Phil Parkinson has not been nominated for the Manager of the Month award.

Nominations have instead gone to Walsall boss Dean Smith, Peterborough United manager Darren Ferguson, Preston North End's Simon Grayson and new Carlisle United chief Graham Kavanagh.

Reid's nomination for the Player of the Month award is a reward for the winger's fine recent form for City.

Since earning a recall back into the side for the Bantams' trip to Stevenage at the end of August, Reid has been one of City's main attacking threats and a near-constant menance to opposition defenders down the left flank.

Highlights for Reid throughout the month of September included an assist in the thumping home win over Brentford and City's equaliser in Saturday's dramatic victory over Shrewsbury Town.

The nomination is, of course, the second time in successive months at the start of the new League 1 season that a City player has been shortlisted for this award after Nahki Wells won the August accolade.
