Thanks, and no thanks

1 October 2013

The football club would firstly like to extend a big thank you to the FlexiCard cash payers for the North Stand (KOP) who heeded the club's message about using turnstile N9 and N10 instead of queuing at the back of the Kop for last Saturday's Sky Bet League 1 fixture with Shrewsbury Town.

The turnstiles in Midland Road were busier for the Shrewsbury game and, more importantly, the queues at turnstile N2 at the back of the Kop were much smaller than at previous games.

The club hopes that fans will now become more accustomed to the entry arrangements that are needed to accommodate the FlexiCard cash gates and will continue to use the turnstiles in Midland Road and avoid the queues.

So, it’s a big 'thank you' for listening and helping both the club, and yourselves, by getting into the stadium more quickly.

It is, however, a 'no thanks' to some of the people at the upper level of the Kop who kicked-away the protective fire boarding at the back of the stand during the game.

This caused an immediate safety issue as some of the pieces fell through to the concourse below, and it also reduced the protection in the stand if there had been a fire.  The additional knock-on effect is, of course, the cost to the club in replacing the boarding; this type of material doesn’t come cheap.

A Club spokesperson said today (Tuesday), “It’s amazing that some home supporters at Bradford City would want to put their fellow supporters at risk and cost their own club money in this way”.

The club are now talking to their Safety Advisory Group before carrying out the essential repairs.  Anyone who can provide information on who might have been responsible for the damage at Saturday’s game is asked to contact the Club directly; any information provided will be treated in the strictest confidence.
