Youth team keep up winning run

12 October 2013

City's impressive bunch of apprentices continued their amazing start to the season this Saturday with a 5-2 victory at Hartlepool United.

The away win was the seventh on the trot for City's youth team, meaning that they remain firmly at the top of the Football League (North East) Youth Alliance table having won EVERY game this season so far.

Led once again by Youth Team coach Steve Thornber and Head of Youth Development Peter Horne, the Bantams' latest victory was secured thanks to a goal each from Nathan Curtis and Callum Chippendale, plus yet another hat-trick from rising star Oliver McBurnie.

For McBurnie, who now has 15 goals in 8 league and cup games for the season, this Saturday's treble at Hartlepool was his FOURTH hat-trick of the campaign already.

The youth team's brilliant start to the season is all the more commendable considering that ALL of their games so far have been played away from home due to redevelopment work at Apperley Bridge.

In other news, City's youth team have been drawn away to Scunthorpe United in the F.A Youth Cup First Round.

The tie will be a repeat of the Youth Alliance Cup tie between the two sides last weekend which City won on penalties despite playing the last half an hour or so with only ten men.

The F.A Youth Cup tie is scheduled to take place in early November.
