Ripley loan deal extended

2 September 2013

City have extended the loan deal of young Middlesbrough goalkeeper Connor Ripley until the turn of the year.

Ripley, who has been with The Bantams since the start of the season, penned his loan extension this Monday and is now set to start in Tuesday's Johnstone's Paint Trophy tie at Hartlepool United.

The club's new loan deal in place with Middlesbrough for Ripley's services will see the shot-stopper remain with City until at least 31 December 2013.

If, as expected, Ripley begins the JPT first round tie at Victoria Park, it will be the 20 year-old's debut outing for Phil Parkinson's men in a competitive fixture.

The England Under 20 international has featured in friendly fixtures against Bradford (Park Avenue) and Accrington Stanley last month during his time with the football club.

Parkinson said: "Connor has worked hard since he's come here - he has worked very hard in training. He has got a a lot of good attributes.

"He is a good distributor of the ball, he's big and he's athletic. Obviously he lacks experience at the moment - that's why we've got him. But we're going to play him tomorrow (Tuesday night) to give him a game.

"He deserves it for the way he has trained and the attitude he has shown despite not being in the side up until now.

"Along with Lee (Butler), our goalkeeper coach, I think Connor has played his part in helping to push Jon (McLaughlin) along this season."
