Wells sent for scan

30 September 2013

Bantams forward Nahki Wells will have a scan on his injured ankle this Monday afternoon as the club aim to find out the exact nature of the Bermudian's problem.

Wells was forced to limp off midway through the first period of Saturday's dramatic last-grasp victory over Shrewsbury Town after taking a kick from Shrews defender Dave Winfield as the pair contested for the ball.

The club are hopeful that this Monday's scan will give them a clear idea of the full extent of the damage caused to Wells and the likely time period that the striker will be sidelined for.

The results of the scan should be known within the next day or so at the latest.

In other news, City defender Matt Taylor, who is currently on loan to League 1 rivals Colchester United, scored for the U's in their 1-1 draw at Bristol City at the weekend.

City's goal at Gillingham has also finally been awarded to Gary Jones.

Jones was awarded the goal in the first place after his eighth-minute corner found the net, but team-mate Garry Thompson felt at the time that he had got a touch on the ball on its way through.

With the match DVD showing no clear proof that Thompson had indeed touched the corner delivery though, the club have decided to stick with the original decision to give the goal to Jones.
