City bring down the curtain on another campaign of fixtures at the Coral Windows Stadium at the weekend with the visit of Crawley Town to BD8, and Parkinson believes Hanson should be in line to play in the game, despite missing Monday's match at Swindon.
Hanson wasn't involved against Swindon after City decided not to risk the giant forward given the fact that he had only just made his return from a long-standing back problem as recently as last Friday in the win over Peterborough United.
It was felt that playing him again so soon after the Peterborough game could leave the striker at risk of causing damage to his back again, meaning City took the option to pull Hanson out of the firing line and instead concentrate on getting him ready for Saturday and Crawley.
Parkinson said: "I had a meeting with (Head Physio) Matt Barrass this (Monday) morning ahead of the game and we just felt that after playing the game on Friday, which he'd played not having had much training beforehand, it was probably best he didn't play a part today.
"We felt that the best way to get him fit for our final home game of the season on Saturday was to leave him out today.
"Even having him on the bench and bringing him on for the last half an hour might have just flared it up again to a degree.
"Now he has plenty of time to rest up and make sure he is ready and firing when he comes out on Saturday."
