Hanson has been troubled with a back injury since March, leading the striker to miss City's last four matches.
The Bantams did initially try to manage the striker through games while he was still troubled with the problem but soon realised that rest and rehab was the only way to try and finally rid Hanson of the injury.
With four games of the campaign left for Parkinson's men, Hanson isn't expected to feature in either of City's games over the Easter weekend, but he could make an appearance in at least one of the club's two remaining matches after that.
Parkinson said: "We will only put Hans (James Hanson) out there if we are really confident that he's 100%.
"The last few games he played for us, it was clear for everyone to see that he wasn't right.
"James has had a tough time with this injury because it has taken us two specialists to really work out what was going on.
"Sometimes in the football you get those difficult sort of injuries though.
"We feel we have finally got to the bottom of James's problem now and he is on the road to recovery.
"We are confident that we will get him into a position where he can play some part before the end of the season."
Parkinson also confirmed that Aaron Mclean is making progress from a hamstring injury, although the Easter weekend games might come too soon for him.
Despite returning to training, James Meredith isn't expected to be rushed back into action just yet, while Chris Atkinson is still ruled out with a thigh problem.
