A single goal from Swindon Town's Lee Cox was enough to hand City their first defeat on the road in four matches.

Cox's effort just under twenty minutes into the second period - the first goal Phil Parkinson's men have conceded in those four most recent away matches - settled a tight contest in the hosts' favour.

After recent clean sheets at Leyton Orient, Coventry City and Rotherham United, Parkinson's side again showed plenty of defensive discipline throughout the vast majority of their Easter Monday match against a Swindon outfit who still have outside hopes of making the Play-Offs.

With City lining up in a 4-3-3 formation, the Bantams actually started the game in bright fashion, Gary Jones going closest early on when he tried to catch out Swindon 'keeper Wes Foderingham by shooting for goal instead of crossing from a wide free-kick.

Foderingham was alert, however, and tipped the effort around his near post.

Swindon grew into the match as the half progressed, with home striker Michael Smith and the tricky Alex Pritchard threatening on a couple of occasions before the interval.

James Meredith made his long-awaited return from a broken foot at the start of the second half as the Australian replaced Nathan Doyle in midfield for City. Parkinson later confirmed Doyle had been withdrawn after tweaking an old groin injury.

Swindon nearly opened the scoring ten minutes after the restart but Smith was denied by a great reaction save from Jon McLaughlin after the striker had headed Miles Storey's cross goalwards.

The Robins did take the lead nine minutes later, however, when Cox latched onto the ball after a Pritchard shot from the edge of the area had been blocked.

Cox turned into space before curling a strike past a helpless McLaughlin and into the far corner from just inside the box.

Pritchard had an opportunity to double Swindon's advantage just under ten minutes later but he shot wide from the edge of the area after moving into a decent shooting position.

City introduced Aaron Mclean later in the half and moved to 4-4-2 in an attempt to rescue something from the match but an equaliser wasn't forthcoming.

Mclean did have a sight of goal four minutes from the end of normal time when Andrew Davies headed a deep free-kick back across the box but the striker's flick for goal was blocked by Foderingham.

FT: Swindon Town 1 Bradford City 0
90min: There will be three minutes of time added on at the end of the match.
86min: A free-kick into the Swindon box from deep is headed across the box by Davies into path of Mclean, who flicks the ball goalwards. Foderingham blocks the effort before gathering up the loose ball at the second attempt before Mclean can look to pounce again.
85min: Garry Thompson's whips over a teasing cross into the six yard box that has to be headed away by Troy Archibald-Henville.
84min: There is a brief break in play as Nathan Thompson receives some treatment following a tackle from Drury.
82min: Smith's low strike from the edge of the area is held by McLaughlin.
81min: SUB - Swindon bring on Ben Gladwin for Cox.
78min: SUB - The Bantams bring on Garry Thompson for Bennett.
76min: McLaughlin has to dive low to his right to tip a teasing 25 yards free-kick from Pritchard around the post.
73min: Luongo's pass into Pritchard gives the Swindon attacker the space to run towards City's penalty box with menace. Pritchard turns away from Davies but his strike from around the edge of the area rolls wide.
68min: SUB - The Bantams bring on Aaron Mclean for De Vita, who is given a nice reception from the home supporters after previously playing at Swindon. Mclean will join Stead in attack, meaning City now switch to a 4-4-2 formation.
67min: Luongo's through pass into the path of Storey gives the striker an opportunity to shoot for goal. The striker's rising effort is pushed around the near post by McLaughlin, however.
64min: GOAL - Swindon Town 1 Bradford City 0 - The hosts take the lead through Lee Cox. Pritchard's shot from the edge of the area is blocked but Cox picks up the ball and curls it into the far corner past a rooted McLaughlin from just inside the box.
56min: City survive a scramble in their box as Swindon go close to opening the scoring. Storey's cross into the area finds the head of Smith, who sees his close range headed repelled by a smart reaction save from McLaughlin. City manage to deny Pritchard a chance to shoot for goal from barely yards out as the ball breaks loose but McEveley eventually crosses back into the mix and Davies has to make a vital headed clearance to deny Smith another close range header.
52min: Luongo's clever pass into the area picks out the dangerous run of McEveley but Darby follows with him and makes the block to put the ball behind for a corner.
51min: Pritchard lines up a shot from around 20 yards out but his effort is sliced wide.
46min: The Bantams restart the match.
HT SUB - The Bantams bring on James Meredith for Doyle. It would seem Doyle may have picked up an injury of some sort. Meredith will start the second half in the same holding midfield role occupied by Doyle in the first half.
HT: Swindon Town 0 Bradford City 0
45min: There will be a minute of time added on at the end of the first half.
43min: Pritchard's little flick into Smith gives the Swindon striker a sight of goal on the edge of the area. Smith turns away from McArdle but his low strike for goal is weak and McLaughlin can gather with relative ease.
41min: Storey's cross into the box is headed out by Davies but Nathan Thompson picks up the loose ball and drives into the box. With Bennett at his back, Thompson fires over the bar with a rising shot from around fourteen yards out.
41min: A neat pass move from Swindon nearly gives Massimo Luongo a free run into some open space in the area but Nathan Doyle is quick to sense danger and make a vital interception to rob the Swindon midfielder of the ball.
38min: Smith's shot on the half-volley from just outside the box is straight at McLaughlin, who gathers up the strike first time.
36min: Jones' delivery from wide from the resulting free-kick is headed out by Nathan Thompson as far as the lurking Raffaele De Vita, who fires a good yard or so over the bar with a first time strike from just outside the box.
35min: YELLOW CARD - Jay McEveley is booked for Swindon after dragging back Jones as the City captain looked to drive down the Bantams' left wing.
33min: The resulting Swindon corner eventually drops into the path of Smith but the striker's effort on the turn from around eight yards out is crucially blocked by the nearby Jones.
32min: Miles Storey's hanging cross to the far post looks to pick out the run of the unmarked Smith but Darby is in the perfect place to head the ball behind for a corner and prevent the Swindon striker a free header on goal from close range.
29min: YELLOW CARD - Andrew Davies is booked for a late tackle from behind on Alex Pritchard about 25 yards from City's goal.
24min: A sloppy touch from Rory McArdle after Stephen Darby's pass into him inside the area gives Michael Smith the chance to nip in. The ball then falls into the path of Alex Pritchard, who dribbles for goal but can only find the side-netting by Jon McLaughlin's near post after coming under pressure from the recovering McArdle and Darby.
23min: Kyle Bennett feeds the ball wide to Stead, who curls an effort straight at Foderingham from just inside the penalty area.
14min: Gary Jones tries to catch out Foderingham from a wide free-kick delivery by going for goal rather than placing the ball into the box. Foderingham dives quickly to his right, however, to repel the effort by his near post and put it out for a corner.
8min: Adam Drury's teasing cross into the box looks to pick out the clever run of Jon Stead in the middle but the striker is just beaten to the ball by Swindon 'keeper Wes Foderingham.
0min: Swindon kick off the match. It looks like Adam Reach will start on the right at the beginning of the match as City line up in a 4-3-3 formation.
