COUNTY CONNECTIONS

27 December 2014

City entertain Notts County at the Coral Windows Stadium this Sunday (28 December 2014) in the club's final Sky Bet League 1 fixture of 2014.

As many supporters will probably know by now, there is certainly more than one link between the current playing and managerial ranks at both clubs ahead of the game.

On the City side of things, former Magpies duo Alan Sheehan and Gary Liddle, both of whom departed Meadow Lane in the summer, could come up against their old employers at the weekend for the first time since leaving.

City loanee Francois Zoko also had a spell with Notts County for roughly a year between August 2012 and August 2013.

While at Liverpool, Bantams skipper Stephen Darby enjoyed a loan period with County as well during the 2010/2011 season.

On the County side, the visitors' squad for this weekend's game is likely to include two very familiar faces to Bradford supporters.

Two members of the club's famous 'history-makers' squad - Garry Thompson and Gary Jones - are currently on the books at Meadow Lane.

After captaining City to a Capital One Cup Final and promotion into League 1 two seasons ago, Jones in particular is expected to receive an extremely warm reception from the home crowd at Valley Parade come Sunday.

County's current assistant manager is also another City old boy, Greg Abbott. The 51 year-old spent nine years at Valley Parade having started his professional career with the Bantams.
