PARKINSON:WE ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO OUR CHAMPIONSHIP TEST

30 December 2014

Bantams boss Phil Parkinson says he is eager to see how well his side can do against Championship side Millwall when City travel to London this Saturday (3 January 2015) for their F.A Cup third round tie with the Lions.

Parkinson's men will head into the tie bang on form having won seven of their last nine matches but the City chief knows his players will need to step things up a notch even further if they are to maintain their interest in this season's F.A Cup competition.

Millwall may currently be in the Championship's relegation zone but Parkinson is fully aware of the size of the task awaiting the Bantams when they travel south for Saturday's tie.

Parkinson's aim is for City to still be in the cup come Monday's evening fourth round draw but even if his side's progress ends at the weekend, he is keen to see what the Bantams' best is like against a team currently in their fifth straight year in England's second tier.

Parkinson: "We will go there in good form, now we have to take the confidence that good form gives us and hopefully use it to our advantage as we look to test ourselves against Championship opposition.

"Millwall are an established Championship side and it is a tough environment to go into so we are interested to see how our players do against them.

"We have watched them a couple of times, including their latest match against AFC Bournemouth on Sunday, and they gave a good account of themselves in that match against a side who is currently top of their league.

"We also saw the Brighton (& Hove Albion) game when they won away so we are not fooled by their recent run of form or their league position. We know they have a lot of good players.

"Whenever you play a side in a higher division, particularly away from home, you know you will have to raise your game even more if you want to get a result.

"The aim is to still be in the F.A Cup come Saturday evening and that will mean us playing to the top of our performance levels to achieve that.

"We have worked hard to get to this third round stage and we want to do ourselves justice now we have got here and play to our maximum.

"Hopefully that will be enough to keep us in the competition. If it is not, however, we have to make sure we carry on our good form for the league fixtures coming up afterwards.

"We deserve this opportunity to test ourselves against Millwall and we are going to relish it."
