Bates hindered by hip problem

19 February 2014

Matthew Bates could be set to miss the club's forthcoming home matches with Milton Keynes Dons and Stevenage after Bantams boss Phil Parkinson confirmed that the defender is suffering with a slight hip problem.

Bates missed Tuesday's dramatic victory over Port Vale due to the injury, with his replacement Carl McHugh netting the all-important winner deep into injury time.

With MK Dons and Stevenage due at the Coral Windows Stadium over the course of the next two Saturdays, the Port Vale game was the first of three consecutive home fixtures for Parkinson's men.

Parkinson believes the hip issue could sideline Bates for around the next two weeks, forcing him to miss parts two and three of City's home triple-header.

Parkinson revealed: "He has a problem with his hip.

"It is something that will probably keep him out for a couple of weeks."
