City fell to a narrow defeat at the hands of Carlisle United on a frustrating night for Phil Parkinson's men.

Lee Miller's fourteenth minute strike proved enough to give the hosts the points despite City dominating the second half for long periods.

Miller's goal came as City failed to clear a James Berrett corner delivery and the Carlisle striker swooped from close range to send an acrobatic bicycle kick past a helpless Jon McLaughlin.

Carlisle attacker David Amoo enjoyed a golden chance to double his side's lead just after the break but he was eased off the ball by a recovering Garry Thompson as he looked to tap home after rounding McLaughlin.

After that close shave City enjoyed almost total domination of proceedings, with Adam Reach in particular looking a real threat on either flank, but Parkinson's side couldn't find the cutting edge required to test home stopper Jordan Pickford enough.

48min: CHANCE - Carlisle blow a golden opportunity to double their lead when a Darby air-shot just inside Carlisle's half allows Amoo to sprint clear. City's right back misses his kick as he tries to put the ball back into mix following a cleared Bantams corner, allowing Amoo to use his sprinter's pace to surge forwards towards City's penalty area. Upon reaching the box, Amoo rounds McLaughlin but a back-tracking Garry Thompson is on hand to vitally get himself between Amoo and the ball and shepherd it out for a goal-kick.

City have at least a couple of attempts at getting rid of the delivery but the ball eventually falls into the path of Miller, who crashes an acrobatic bicycle kick past a helpless McLaughlin from around six yards out.

5min: Stephen Darby's long throw-in into the area eventually lands at the feet of Mclean deep inside the Carlisle penalty box. The striker pokes the ball goal-wards from close range but the effort is deflected out for a corner.
3min: Aaron Mclean tries his luck from a good distance out after latching onto a James Hanson knock-down but the forward's effort is dragged well wide of goal.
