Duo in contention for Crewe

7 February 2014

Bantams boss Phil Parkinson says both Andrew Davies and James Hanson are in contention for this Saturday's Sky Bet League 1 fixture with Crewe Alexandra after taking part in training this Thursday.

The pair missed last Saturday's match at Wolverhampton Wanderers - Hanson with a minor hamstring problem and Davies due to his recent injury lay-off - but the duo are now back in the mix for this weekend's encounter at the Coral Windows Stadium.

Parkinson said: "James is looking better.

"As I mentioned after the Wolves game last weekend, we really left him and Andrew Davies out of the team that day more as a precaution. I just felt it was the right decision to make for us as a team going forward.

"James had an injection in his hamstring this Monday. The extra time we have given him and Andrew has done them a lot of good. Both have certainly benefited from not playing.

"Realistically, it was always going to be very hard to ask Dava (Andrew Davies) to play again on the Saturday after only making his return from four months off in a tough game the previous Tuesday.

"He is looking great this week and he can't wait to get back out there."

In other fitness-related news, Kyel Reid successfully underwent surgery to repair the torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee this Thursday.

Reid, who suffered the horrific injury at Sheffield United just under three weeks ago, is now expected to sidelined for approximately the next seven months as he begins the slow road to recovery.
