Let's go again

Bantams boss Phil Parkinson says City must back up their morale-boosting victory over Port Vale on Tuesday with another lung-bursting performance against Milton Keynes Dons this Saturday.

Although City's winner through Carl McHugh came as late as injury time, there was no denying Parkinson's men were the dominant side in the contest thanks to a determined and driven display.

The Vale victory was actually the Bantams' first since defeating MK Dons at stadiummk in the first encounter between the two sides back in late November.

With the Dons scheduled in town this weekend for the second part of City's home triple-header, Parkinson is looking for repeat of Tuesday from his team and another big effort.

Parkinson said: "Obviously coming into this game off the back of a win is a great feeling.

"Everyone is physically feeling ok as well. There are no new injuries to report on from Tuesday, which is a bonus.

"After the effort the lads put in against Port Vale, we'll just assess the players during this week and look to pick the right team to allow us to go again.

"As I said after the match on Tuesday night, once the final whistle went, the most important thing was preparing for this Saturday.

"We help the lads when they are here at the training ground in terms of recovery and preparation for the next game, and we trust the players to look after themselves when they are at home as well.

"That is important as we have to be ready to push ourselves physically once again.

"The human body can be pushed to its limits and we're going to have to do that again on Saturday if we want to get the result.

"Any player who doesn't feel quite capable of doing that on Saturday, we do have the option to make a few changes."

City defeated MK Dons earlier this season 3-2 in an entertaining contest settled by Jason Kennedy's 85th minute winner.

Karl Robinson's Play-Off hopefuls currently sit six points off the top six and Parkinson knows his side could be in for another challenging encounter.

He added: "We had a very tight game with MK Dons earlier this season, which we managed to win late on. We know they normally like to play with that extra player in the middle of the pitch so there will be times when we have to be patient and very disciplined.

"They have some intelligent footballers in their side but, as we showed down there in November, we are capable of scoring against them.

"Both sides have players who can create chances and act as attacking threats. If you look back at our games, even the ones that finished 0-0 like the Preston match, there has been chances in the game.

"We would love all the main chances to go in our favour but if you look at MK Dons and their usual style, they do seem to set up more attacking than defensive."
