McArdle called up

City defender Rory McArdle has been named in Northern Ireland's squad for their friendly in Cyprus next week.

McArdle is one of 22 players named in Michael O'Neill's squad this Wednesday for the friendly fixture in Nicosia.

The game will take place next Wednesday (5 March 2014), with McArdle scheduled to meet up with the squad on Sunday (2 March 2014).

McArdle is expected back in England next Thursday, meaning he shouldn't miss any City fixtures during his latest spell of international duty.

The central defender already has six Northern Ireland caps to his name at senior level.

Northern Ireland squad in full:

Goalkeepers: Roy Carroll (Olympiakos), Alan Mannus (St Johnstone), Michael McGovern (Falkirk).

Defenders: Gareth McAuley (West Brom), Daniel Lafferty (Burnley), Rory McArdle (Bradford City), Ryan McGivern (Hibernian), Craig Cathcart (Blackpool), Alex Bruce (Hull City).
