Wells moves to Huddersfield

10 January 2014

Bradford City can confirm that Nahki Wells has left the football club to join Sky Bet Championship side Huddersfield Town.

Wells will arrive at Huddersfield initially on an emergency loan deal to enable him to feature in their game with Millwall this Saturday before moving onto a four-and-a-half year deal with City's West Yorkshire neighbours from next Monday.

The Bermudian moves to the John Smith's Stadium for an undisclosed fee, although it is believed to be a club record transfer for the Terriers. Their previous highest fee paid for a player stood at £1.25 million.

Wells - an extremely popular figure during his time with the Bantams - leaves the Coral Windows Stadium after scoring an impressive 54 goals in 112 appearances for City.

Speaking about his move to Huddersfield, Wells said: "I feel this is a good move for my career to learn my trade in the Championship.

"I see Huddersfield moving in the right direction and I hope this move will work out for me in the end. This is a step up from the league I have been playing in and I want to prove that I am good enough to play in the Championship.

"I had some great times at Bradford and hopefully I can say that I am leaving them on a good note. I always did what I could for Bradford but I'm moving onto the next chapter of my career now with Huddersfield.

"I love Bradford to bits - they did everything for me. I wanted to end my time there on good terms because I want to be welcomed back in the future.

"They gave me an opportunity and I enjoyed some unbelievable moments with them. I hope I am remembered for the right reasons and I wish them all the best for the rest of the season."

The football club would like to thank Nahki for all of his efforts during his time with Bradford City and wish him all the very best for the future.
