THEY'RE BACK!

1 July 2014

City's preparations for the 2014/2015 campaign began this Tuesday as Phil Parkinson's squad took part in day one of their pre-season programme.

On a warm and sunny day at the club's Apperley Bridge training ground, Parkinson's men reconvened for their first day back as a group since the Bantams' victory over Tranmere Rovers on the final day of last season.

Wearing their brand new red, white and black Nike training attire and with Parkinson keeping an eye on proceedings nearby, the Bantams' squad were put through their paces by Head of Sports Science Nick Allamby and Assistant Manager Steve Parkin in both a morning and afternoon session.

Double sessions are expected to be the norm for Parkinson's side this summer as they look to get themselves ready for the big kick off at home to Coventry City on Saturday 9 August.

Fresh from joining the club over the summer, City's new quintet of signings - Matthew Dolan, Gary Liddle, Alan Sheehan, Billy Knott and Billy Clarke - were part of the group on their first official day as Bradford players.

City midfielder Jason Kennedy was also involved in training this Tuesday following his return to the club after his loan spell at Rochdale last season.

Along with Kennedy, out-of-contract duo Jon McLaughlin and Raffaele De Vita took part in the day's sessions as well.

Although technically both free agents at present, the pair are training with the club with the hope that they can strike a deal with Parkinson.

First year pros Niall Heaton (left) and Oliver McBurnie (right) were also on show after officially becoming part of Parkinson's senior squad over the summer.

Every other player currently on the club's books - apart from Matt Taylor - took part in both the morning and afternoon sessions.

Taylor was at Apperley Bridge this Tuesday but he continued his rehab indoors as the defender remains on the road to recovery after foot surgery towards the back end of last season.

The club's first pre-season friendly of the summer is scheduled for Saturday 12 July at Skrill North side Guiseley. A day later - Sunday 13 July - Parkinson's squad are due to fly out to Ireland to begin their week-long stay in the country.
