To somewhat introduce him to our fans, we have put together a collaboration of facts about the 27 year old midfielder.
1. Born 15th June 1986 in Middlesbrough, Gary turns 28 in just a few days time.
2. He began his senior career as a footballer with home town club Middlesbrough in 2002.
3. As a Youth player with 'Boro' his side won the FA Youth Cup; his team-mates included Ross Turnbull, Tony McMahon, Andrew Taylor, Matthew Bates, Tom Craddock, David Wheater, Chris Brunt, James Morrison and Danny Graham.
4. He made almost 250 league appearances for his next club Hartlepool United during the 6 years that he spent there (2006-2012)
5. Though a central midfielder, Gary is equally capable at Centre Half.
6. During the 2012-13 season he played in every second of each of County's 46 league fixtures equalling a club record last set by Pedro Richards 30 years previous.
7. He won 4 awards at the club's end of season awards ceremony that season: The Manager's Player of the Year, Players' Player of the Year, Fans' Player of the Year and The Supporters' Club Player of the Year.
8. He put Notts County ahead in a 1-1 draw with City at The Coral Windows Stadium back in late November
9. He scored an overhead kick last season for Notts County in a 4-1 victory against Carlisle United at Meadow Lane.
10. Gary has 25 career goals to date.
