Doyle tweaked his groin towards the end of the first half at Greenhous Meadow and had to be replaced by Gary Jones.
The 27 year-old will now be assessed by the club's medical staff over the next couple of days to see if he has any chance of being in the running for a place in City's starting eleven for the midweek fixture with the Saddlers.
City boss Phil Parkinson said: "Nathan's had a problem with his groin in the past and we think it is a similar thing here.
"It has just tightened up on him and he's had to come off."
