Early Brentford team news

7 March 2014

City are expected to be boosted by Andrew Davies' presence in their travelling party to high-flying Brentford this weekend.

Davies limped out of last Saturday's home match with Stevenage due to a minor calf injury caused by a neural problem but, barring any last-minute set-backs in Friday training, the defender is likely to feature at Griffin Park.

Carl McHugh, who has been playing at left back in City's last three games, was troubled with a slight calf injury himself earlier this week but he has now returned to training.

Matthew Bates is on stand-by, however, should either McHugh or Davies suffer any late relapses.

Like Davies, fellow defender Rory McArdle is also in line to play against Brentford this Saturday after coming back unscathed from his latest spell of international duty with Northern Ireland.

Following an impressive display against a Sunderland XI this week for the reserves, Kyle Bennett will be pushing hard to regain City's right wing slot once again off Garry Thompson.

Team-mates Raffaele De Vita, Matt Taylor and Lewis Clarkson all remain sidelined though.

Brentford, who include Bradford-born striker Clayton Donaldson in their ranks, currently sit third in the League 1 table.

They are expected to welcome back defender Alan McCormack after the right back missed last weekend's goalless draw up at Carlisle United with a minor glute problem.

Centre half Harlee Dean, who also missed the Carlisle fixture, could be in line to return as well following a recent groin injury.

Former Oldham defender James Tarkowski will keep his place in the side if Brentford decide not to risk Dean though.
