Bantams boss Phil Parkinson has revealed that James Hanson is definitely out of City's final game of the season at Tranmere Rovers on Saturday.

Hanson, who has been dogged by a back problem since March, has only started one of the Bantams' last eight games and had to pull out on the morning of the Crawley Town game last Saturday after originally been penciled in to start.

City are hopeful that Hanson's issue, which is an inflammation of the lower back and groin muscle, will be completely cleared over the summer but Parkinson says the striker certainly won't be risked for the trip to Prenton Park at the weekend.

Parkinson confirmed: "Hanson is out for Saturday. James won't play in this one."

The City chief is, however, more hopeful regarding the fitness of Rory McArdle.

The defender went off against Crawley last weekend after twisting his left ankle and also taking a whack to the face.

McArdle has required some treatment on his injured ankle this week but Parkinson is confident he will be in contention for the Tranmere fixture.

Parkinson added: "He has done the majority of the (training) session today (Thursday), so he is looking a lot better.

"As long as he has no reaction now, I am expecting him to be available for selection."
