WORK IS CONTINUING

28 May 2014

Bantams boss Phil Parkinson says work is continuing behind the scenes at the Coral Windows Stadium as City begin to gear up for the forthcoming 2014/2015 campaign.

City's players aren't scheduled back at their Apperley Bridge training ground for the start of pre-season for another five weeks or so but Parkinson is still busy trying to build up his squad for the new season.

With central defender Rory McArdle having signed a new three-year deal last week, Parkinson has confirmed that offers have also been made to some of the club's out of contract players.

The City chief is also looking at adding to his squad this summer with players from outside the club but he admits that these plans might be affected by contract negotiations with his current crop.

Parkinson said: "We are currently working on a number of things and we have already had some discussions with a few of the lads.

"It is still relatively early days yet though. We are still sounding some players out.

"We're delighted that Rory (McArdle) is still going to be with us.

"He's a player I expect will keep improving - he should reach his peak in the next couple of years.

"We have made offers to some of our existing players as well.

"Until they decide one way or another though, we won't know for certain exactly how much room in the budget we have to play with to help us bring new players into the football club."
