KEEP IT UP

Bantams boss Phil Parkinson says he is looking for more of the same from his players this weekend following last Saturday's fine victory over promotion-chasing Preston North End.

After collecting all three points at Deepdale, Parkinson's men now welcome Gillingham to the Coral Windows Stadium for the first of three consecutive home games in the league and cup.

Given Preston's lengthy unbeaten at home before City's victory, the Deepdale win last weekend was mightily impressive from Parkinson's men.

The City chief knows, however, his side will have to put in the same effort and commitment this Saturday as well if they wish to try and pick up another three-point haul.

Parkinson said: "I want to see the same from the players. I want to see everything they did right at Preston at home this time around.

"Our performance at Preston, especially in the first half, was terrific and everyone showed the real honesty and endeavour throughout the game.

"We need that again from the lads to give ourselves the best possible chance of picking up the right result on Saturday.

"Ever since I've been at the club, we have only achieved the right results when everyone - all 11 to 14 players involved - has given everything into the game.

"This division is so tight in terms of its competitiveness and you really do have to earn every single point.

"The highlight of our performance at Preston was the work ethic of the side, and we will need to reproduce that against Gillingham. Nothing else will be good enough.

"Gillingham will come to Valley Parade this Saturday boosted by their late win over Leyton Orient last weekend. We've seen the game and they were probably deserved winners in the end.

"Having also won at Crawley before (in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy), they will be coming here with renewed confidence but we will be up for the challenge of facing them.

"We have to be ready to go toe-to-toe with them."
In other news, City striker Lewis Clarkson has been loaned out to Whitby Town until 18 December 2014.

The young forward has moved to the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League side in a bid to get his match fitness levels up following three months on the sidelines with a hamstring problem.
