CITY KIT MAN TO TAKE ON ANOTHER CHARITY TREK

9 April 2015

City's popular kit man John Duckworth has decided to dust off his walking boots and put them to good use once again as he looks to raise yet more funds for the Bradford Burns Unit.

John is planning to walk the 73 miles between Lincoln City's Sincil Bank ground and the Coral Windows Stadium ahead of the Bantams' final league home match of the season against Barnsley on Saturday 25 April 2015.

The life-long City supporter has selected to undertake the challenge later this month to coincide with the forthcoming 30th anniversary of the Valley Parade fire disaster.

Lincoln has been chosen as the starting point for the charity walk given the fact that the Imps were City's opponents on that fateful day on Saturday 11 May 1985.

For John, the walk, of course, will not be the first time he has made this particular trek.

John walked from Valley Parade to Sincil Bank ahead of City's New Year's Day match with Lincoln in 2011 before making the return journey (Sincil Bank to Valley Parade) in a secondary charity trek ahead of the Bantams' final home match of the season against Swindon Town in 2012.

On top of those sterling efforts, the City kit man - along with the assistance of his BantamsTrek group - has also helped to organise plenty of other fundraising events over the years including three Yorkshire Three Peaks walking challenges, two coffee mornings and numerous other charity events for the Burns Unit and MacMillan Cancer Support.

As John makes his trip from Sincil Bank to the Coral Windows Stadium this month, he will be joined along the way by a selection of Barnsley supporters also walking to the Yorkshire derby.

City fans can show their support to John and the Bradford Burns Unit by visiting his Just Giving site and pledging what they can - please click HERE.

SUPPORTERS CAN ALSO DONATE BY TEXTING BANT56 (amount) TO 70070 (eg BANT56 £2.00 to 70070).

The aim for John, as with his previous Lincoln-Bradford walks, will be to complete the trek in under 24 hours.
