GOOD FRIDAYS!

2 April 2015

Ahead of City’s trip to Doncaster Rovers this Friday Bank Holiday, we take a little look back and some of the Good Friday encounters in recent years which have panned out in favour of the Bantams.

Friday 18th April 2014 – Bradford City 1-0 Peterborough United (League One)

Middlesbrough loanee Adam Reach scored a stunning free kick from the best part of 30 yards out to confirm all three points and virtually confirm City’s League One status for another season. The Bantams dominated the first half and Posh lost Shaun Brisley, who was sent off after picking two yellow cards in quick succession.

Friday 29th March 2013 – Bradford City 2-2 Southend United (League Two)

After their league form had taken a bit of a knock following their amazing Capital One Cup exploits, City's hopes of making the League 2 looked like they could be fading as Britt Assombalonga and Gavin Tomlin gave the visitors a two goal lead after just 11 minutes of the game. Zavon Hines’ well taken half volley brought City back into the game before James Hanson’s late equaliser kept promotion dreams alive going into Easter Monday’s trip to Torquay United – a 3-1 win down there pushed the Bantams up to 9th in League Two.

Friday 6th April 2012 – Bradford City 2-0 Southend United (League Two)

A comfortable victory against United eased any relegation fears that City might have had. James Hanson headed home his 13th of the season just before the break and the lead was doubled from the penalty spot through Craig Fagan after Nahki Wells was tripped by Sean Clohessy. The Southend full back was given his marching orders. Things got worse for Southend as Elliot Benyon was sent off for kicking out at Rob Kozluk, just 10 minutes after coming on as a substitute.
