A POINT TO PROVE

25 August 2015

Bantams boss Phil Parkinson was glad to see midfielder Josh Morris playing with a point to prove against Barnsley at Oakwell last Saturday.

Following the disappointing home defeat to Gillingham, Morris was left out of the starting eleven at Barnsley - the first time he'd not made the opening line up for a league fixture this season.

Morris was brought into the action during the second period in the Yorkshire derby and he responded with a lively display down City's left flank to give Parkinson food for thought.

Parkinson said: "Josh was excellent.

"If you'd had said to me that I'd be leaving him out of my team after his performance at Swindon two weeks ago, I'd probably have thought you were mad.

"In the last couple of games before Saturday though, he hasn't made enough of an impact with and without the ball.

“But when he came on, he had the bit between his teeth. He got back to the way he'd played in the first half at Swindon. He could have helped to win us the game.

"It was the same with Luke James, who had two great chances and big moments in the game.

“But the two lads gave us an impetus at exactly the right time and that’s what you want to see.”
