Sky Bet League 1
Saturday 15 August 2015

Attendance: 18,039 (318 visitors)

City's first home game of the 2015/2016 campaign ended with Phil Parkinson's Bantams collecting their maiden point of the new season.

Last season's top scorer Billy Clarke fired Parkinson's side into the lead just before the break but Tyrone Barnett equalised from close range for the visitors barely seconds after the restart for the second period.

As City went in search of a second goal following Barnett's leveller, Clarke was unfortunately forced off midway into the half after damaging his knee.

Parkinson confirmed post-match that the Irish attacker has damaged his medial ligament but the full extent of the injury wasn't known as of yet.

FT: Bradford City 1 Shrewsbury Town 1
90+3min: McAlinden leads a Shrewsbury counter-attack but the attacker's eventual low effort on goal from the edge of the box is straight at Williams.
90+2min: Sheehan gets his head onto Anderson's corner but his effort for goal is blocked from close range by Tootle.
90min: There will be five minutes of time added on at the end of the match.
79min: SUB - Shrewsbury bring on Liam McAlinden for Lawrence.
78min: McArdle's near post flicked header from Routis' corner drops narrowly wide of Leutwiler's far post, just evading the lurking Sheehan nearby in the process.
74min: Liam Lawrence's searching cross towards the far post has to be headed behind for a corner from close range by Darby.
72min: SUB - Shrewsbury bring on Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro for Collins.
71min: Martin Woods tries his luck from outside the area and his rising drive goes narrowly over the bar.
67min: SUB - Unfortunately is seems Clarke has picked up an injury failing awkwardly towards the end of the previous move. He is now replaced by Billy Knott.
65min: YELLOW CARD - Goldson is booked for twice trying to pull back Clarke as the striker burst forward with menace deep into Shrewsbury's territory. The move eventually ends up with Routis firing comfortably wide from just outside the box after being found by Clarke.
63min: SUBS - The Bantams bring on Paul Anderson and Mark Marshall for Davies and Morris respectively.
59min: Hanson's rising drive from just outside the box sails a few inches wide of the top corner of Leutwiler's goal.
58min: YELLOW CARD - Routis is booked for catching Collins with a late sliding tackle just inside City's half of the pitch.
53min: So close from Stephen Darby! Routis' clever flick forward into the path finds Billy Clarke, who tees the ball off to City's skipper. Darby works himself into the space for a shot but his effort from around ten yards out is kicked clear from right in front of his own goal-line by Goldson.
51min: Davies' strike for goal from outside the area curls comfortably wide of Leutwiler's far post.
51min: Leutwiler's goal-kick forward eventually drops into the path of Collins just inside the box but the striker's powerful effort on the half-volley sails well over the bar.
48min: YELLOW CARD - James Collins is booked for a late sliding tackle on Sheehan just inside City's half of the pitch.
46min: GOAL - Bradford City 1 Shrewsbury Town 1 - Not the start the Bantams were looking for after the restart as Barnett equalises for the visitors. Barnett latches onto a ball forward by Connor Goldson which is flicked on by Collins before striding into the box. McArdle attempts to block the striker's progress but Barnett's initial effort for goal from a tight angle appears to hit the City defender before striking the Shrewsbury forward again and bobbling up and over the line.
46min: Shrewsbury kick off the second half.
HT: Bradford City 1 Shrewsbury Town 0
45min: There will be two minutes added on at the end of the first half.
43min: GOAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bradford City 1 Shrewsbury Town 0 - The Bantams have the lead through Billy Clarke! Last season's top-scorer leads a dangerous break forward before feeding the ball wide to Davies. Continuing his run forward, Clarke latches onto Davies' cross into the middle and lashes past Leutwiler from around eight yards out.
41min: Alan Sheehan hits the post! Routis' free-kick from deep is headed across the box by Hanson towards Sheehan, who sees his flick for goal bounce against Leutwiler's far post. Clarke latches onto the loose ball from close range but he can only fire into the side-netting by Leutwiler's near post. The Swiss 'keeper seems to have possibly got a touch on the ball to divert it away from his goal but no corner is awarded.
35min: Tyrone Barnett out-jumps Stephen Darby to meet Tootle's searching cross but the Shrewsbury striker's header lacks the power or direction to trouble Williams, who gathers with relative ease.
25min: Matt Tootle tees the ball off to Martin Woods but the midfielder's drive from distance flies comfortably wide of Ben Williams' goal.
22min: Rory McArdle's long ball forward is headed down by James Hanson into the path of Billy Clarke but the attacker's drive from just inside the box is blocked by the diving frame of Ryan Woods. The ball breaks free to Routis outside the area and the Frenchman's low drive is deflected wide of the far post for a corner.
18min: Christopher Routis tries his luck from outside the area but his effort from an angle on the half-volley loops high and wide of Leutwiler's goal.
4min: Billy Clarke bursts into the box with purpose but his path to goal is blocked by Jermaine Grandison. Steven Davies tries to get on the loose ball deep inside the area but Grandison is eventually able to clear the danger after a brief scramble for possession.
3min: Josh Morris fires narrowly over the bar with a direct free-kick from around 25 yards out. Jayson Leutwiler appeared to get his fingertips onto the effort but only a goal-kick is awarded.
0min: The Bantams kick off the match. Phil Parkinson's side will kick towards the Kop Stand in the first period after appearing to lose the pre-match coin toss.
