PARKINSON EXCITED BY CHRISTMAS CRACKER

22 December 2015

Bantams boss Phil Parkinson is looking forward to the prospect of welcoming league leaders Burton Albion to the Coral Windows Stadium this Saturday in a bumper Boxing Day encounter.

Following their victory at Chesterfield last weekend, City are now preparing to entertain the current table-toppers in a mouth-watering festive fixture in front of the Bantams faithful.

With new boss Nigel Clough now in charge following the recent departure of previous manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink to QPR, Burton made it five games unbeaten on Saturday thanks to an entertaining 3-3 home draw against Doncaster Rovers.

Burton's run to the summit in Sky Bet League 1 is all the more impressive when you consider that this season is their first ever at this level after winning the League 2 title last year.

Parkinson is full of respect for the division's current top team, and he knows both the players and fans will need to be up for the occasion if City wish to get anything from their final home game of 2015.

The City chief said: "It should be a cracking game.

"I just want all of our fans to really enjoy their Christmas Day and then come to the game the next day ready to create a tremendous atmosphere around the ground.

"We have set the game up nicely after our win at Chesterfield on Saturday.

"We know it will be a tough and physical encounter - they (Burton Albion) will probably play 4-3-3 again - and we'll have to be right on our game.

"Burton have managed to carry on the momentum they created last year, and I'm sure Nigel will be keen to continue that progression after taking over from Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink a couple of weeks ago.

"Our main job throughout the game will be to make sure we maintain the high standards we have set over recent weeks.

"If we do that, we'll give ourselves a good chance of keeping our points tally ticking over again.

"When Boxing Day comes around though, I'm confident we'll be ready."
