SOUTHEND UNITED MATCH POSTPONED DUE TO WATERLOGGED PITCH

12 December 2015

City's Sky Bet League 1 fixture with Southend United this Saturday (12 December 2015) at the Coral Windows Stadium has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

The club had worked tirelessly throughout the day to give the game the best possible chance to be played but unfortunately the sheer volume of rain from persistent heavy rain showers left the pitch unplayable.

Rain had been falling consistently at the ground since roughly 8:00am this (Saturday) morning when the game was postponed by match official Ross Joyce at approximately 1:30pm.

Mr Joyce had already checked the pitch twice ahead of his decision to call the game off.

Surface water was unfortunately starting to appear on the pitch due to the rain, meaning a match-ball used by the officials was not rolling properly in places.

The heavy rain that had been falling from early morning was also forecast to continue until at least roughly 4:00pm.

No new date for this fixture has been confirmed as of yet.
