WE'RE EXPECTING A STERN TEST

2 December 2015

Bantams boss Phil Parkinson says there will be no danger of City taking anything for granted this Sunday when they entertain non-league side Chesham United in the Emirates FA Cup second round at the Coral Windows Stadium.

Being as thorough as ever, Parkinson was in the crowd at Chesham on Tuesday night to see the Generals defeat Frome Town in an FA Trophy Third Round Qualifying replay.

The Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division side, of course, caused one of the shocks of the first round in this season's FA Cup when they memorably defeated Sky Bet League 2 side Bristol Rovers at the Memorial Stadium.

At the same stage of the competition, City battled their way past National League side Aldershot Town thanks to goals from Greg Leigh and Tony McMahon in a televised replay after a goalless original tie at the EBB Stadium.

This Sunday's opponents might be two leagues lower in the Football Pyramid than Aldershot, and four lower than City, but Parkinson knows to be wary of the threat posed by any team below Football League level.

He said: "We know there is a big prize at stake for both sides on Sunday, namely a place in the eagerly-anticipated third round draw.

"We remember how difficult the two ties were for us against Aldershot Town in the first round.

"We are expecting another stern test on Sunday.

"We have to congratulate Chesham on their magnificent victory at Bristol Rovers - it was probably the shock of the round.

"We have some great recent memories in this competition and we hope we can take a step in the right direction on Sunday to create some more."
